Let’s Talk About Sex: Erotica

This week, Fangirls, we’re talking about the power of words. It amazes me how much words can move us, and arouse us. This stuff has surely been happening well before fan fiction and 50 Shades of this or that. Read a few well detailed sexy sentences and things are  sure to get surprisingly steamy. Erotic literature is both fiction & non-fiction, factual & fantasy. It can be novels, short stories, memoirs, poems, anything. Erotica of this sort dates all the way back to Ancient Greece & Rome. It seems to have started more as poetry, then advanced into many forms from there. It became more of a censored, concealed thing when the printing press came along in the 15th century.

There’s so much out their to fit everyone’s taste, which is how the wonder of sexuality tends to go. You can go the route of more discrete, elegant poetry, or texts that like to leave a lot to the mind. The eroticism is found more in what is unsaid, what is left to the mind. Or, you can go more of the story route, with tons & tons of books to choose from. There’s shelves & shelves of those cheesy, but very steamy romantic novels that can surely get your gears grinding. I don’t judge, if hunky stable boys are your thing, go ham.

I personally find the most arousing tales to be from the real encounters of people that you can more often find online. The raw stories of peoples sexual encounters, painted in the details they wish to provide. Stories of joining the mile high club with perfect strangers and intimate one of a kind rendezvous. I think that stuff packs quite the punch when it comes to erotic text.

As I said earlier, I’m amazed by the power of literature like this. Our minds & bodies are crazy things. Just by reading a few well placed details, our imaginations can go wild. Picturing all of this, imagining yourself in these positions. It can take your body on quite the ride. If you’ve never experienced any sort of erotica like this, I recommend doing so. It’s an interesting approach to arousal that I find to be extremely underrated. Have fun & read safely, Fangirls!
